Athens, Greece: ‘Anarchist Gangs for Metropolitan Disruption’ Claim the Attack on Zografou Police Station

A group calling itself Anarchist Gangs for Metropolitan Disruption have claimed responsibility for the incendiary attack against the Zografou Police Station in Athens on September 14th, 2019.

A group of hooded and masked anarchists attacked the police station with Molotov cocktails and other incendiaries at about 02:40 am.

The police responded by firing a stun grenade and managed to detain two comrades. The comrades were later released due to a lack of evidence.

The attack against the police station took place hours after a rally in downtown Athens by anarchists and anti-authoritarians against ongoing raids, evictions and other repressions by police in Exarcheia.

From the claim of responsibility posted on Athens Indymedia:

“We must make a strong and sharp presence in the battles to come. Only through action can we show what we want. And we want it all, NOW and FOR EVERYBODY. We send our solidarity to the imprisoned comrades Dino Giagtzoglou, Yannis Dimitrakis and Kostas Sakkas, as well as to the Park Bench 3 in Germany. We do not forget those who have fallen in the social war, nor do we forget the murders of Pavlos Fyssas and Zach Kostopoulos / Zackie Oh.”
